Charleston Southern's Katie Stephens Wins English Women's Amateur

DURHAM, England - Middlesbrough, England native and current CSU Women's golfer Katie Stephens took home the first place trophy at the English Women's Amateur Championship event. Not only did Stephens take home the win, she won the competition on the 36th and final hole. She beat out Shivani Karthikeyen after the two of them had been playing musical chairs at the top of the event's leader board all afternoon.

During the stroke play section of the tournament, Stephens recorded rounds of 70-73 which earned her sixth place during the first stage of the event (the top 32 advanced). During the later, match play rounds, Stephens defeated: Alexandra Stevenson 1 UP in the Round of 16, Aaliyah Hryniewiecka-Irwin 3 & 2 in the Quarterfinals, Ellise Rymer on the 19th hole in the Semifinals, and Shivani Karthikeyen in the final round.
