High Point Tabbed 2024 Women's Cross Country Preseason Favorite
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Seven-time defending Big South women’s cross country champion
High Point University has been voted the favorite in the conference’s annual preseason poll by the league’s head coaches, the conference office announced Wednesday.
The Panthers received eight of the nine first-place votes and 79 points to claim the top spot for the seventh consecutive season.
Charleston Southern, last year’s Runner-Up, received the remaining first-place vote and 69 points for second in the poll, while
Radford was third with 63 points.
UNC Asheville finished fourth in the voting with 56 points, ahead of
Longwood, which placed fifth in the poll with 41 points.
Winthrop and
USC Upstate tied for the sixth position with 32 points each, and were followed by
Gardner-Webb (eighth-place with 21 points) and
Presbyterian College (ninth-place with 12 points) to round out the preseason rankings.
The women’s cross country season begins Friday, Aug. 30. The 2024 Big South Women’s Cross Country Championship is slated for Friday, Nov. 1, on the campus of Charleston Southern University in Charleston, S.C.
