Big South Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Week - Sept. 16

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– Presbyterian College forward Damorney Hutchinson (St. Thomas, Jamaica) has been named the Big South Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while UNC Asheville goalkeeper Charlie Farrar (Wakefield, United Kingdom) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 9-15, it was announced today. In addition, Presbyterian midfielder Jonas Sundli-Hardig (Bergen, Norway) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week.
 
Hutchinson scored four goals in helping the Blue Hose go a perfect 2-0 last week. In the win over Coastal Carolina, he scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in the final seven minutes as the Blue Hose rallied for a 3-2 road win at perennial NCAA Tournament participant Coastal Carolina. Hutchinson then added another two goals in a 3-0 victory over VMI with scores in the 44th and 55th minutes. For the week, he tallied 14 shots and eight shots on goal in 140 minutes.
 
Farrar posted a pair of clean sheets in wins over Wofford and Davidson to increase UNC Asheville’s consecutive shutout streak to four matches. He made two critical saves in the 58th and 66th minutes to preserve a 1-0 lead against the Terriers, and he added another save in the 85th minute against Davidson in a game where the Wildcats totaled 17 shots. Farrar’s two shutouts last week make him the lone goalkeeper in UNC Asheville program history to be part of four straight defensive shutouts. 
 
Sundli-Hardig assisted on Presbyterian's goal in the closing minutes of the first half at Coastal Carolina to tie the score at one. He also anchored the defense in a 3-0 win over VMI, helping the Blue Hose secure their second shutout of the season while limiting the Keydets to a single shot. Sundli-Hardig totaled 149 minutes in two games.
 
Also nominated for Offensive Player of the Week: Caio Hughes (Gardner-Webb), Alfred Baafi (High Point) and Seth Hammond (UNC Asheville).
 
Also nominated for Defensive Player of the Week: Reudd Manin (Presbyterian) and Alex Eydelman (Radford).
