Big South Announces Women's Golfers of the Week - Sept. 19

Caroline Patterson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) and Charleston Southern’s
Katie Stephens (Middlesbrough, England) have been named the Big South Women’s Co-Golfers of the Week, while Longwood’s
Abigail Sheldon (Boca Raton, Fla.) is the Women’s Freshman of the Week honor for events played Sept. 12-18, it was announced today.
Patterson won the individual title with a 1-over 217 (74-68-75) to lead UNC Asheville to a second-place finish at the Velvet Classic (par 72, 6,030 yards). She paced the field with 12 birdies and finished three strokes ahead of the second-place finisher. Her second-round 68 (-4) was the only round in the 60s out of all 91 competitors.
Stephens led Charleston Southern to the team title at the Elon Invitational (par 71, 6,065 yards) behind the best finish of her collegiate career. She concluded play as the individual runner-up with an even-par 142 (70-72) in the rain-shortened event, and she was four-under through 12 holes of the third round before the tournament was called due to weather. She was the top Big South finisher in an event that featured six other Big South schools.
Sheldon tied for 13
th in her collegiate debut at the Elon Invitational. She carded rounds of 75 (+4) and 74 (+3) for the tournament before rain canceled the final round, and she was Longwood’s top finisher in her first event as a Lancer.
