The Big South women's soccer conference season opened on Wednesday night with two victories and two draws.  Charleston Southern defeated Winthrop, 4-1, while High Point blanked Longwood, 2-0.  The remaining two matches were 2-2 ties between Gardner-Webb vs. Radford, and USC Upstate at Presbyterian.

CHARLESTON SOUTHERN 4, WINTHROP 1 | BOX SCORE
The Charleston Southern women's soccer team began Big South play on a tear, defeating the Winthrop Eagles 4-1 on Wednesday.  Four different players scored for the Buccaneers (9-5-4, 1-0-0 in conference), and each of them came in the first half. It was the most goals scored in one half for the Buccaneers since scoring six in the first half against Brewton Parker in 2022.

HIGH POINT 2, LONGWOOD 0 | BOX SCORE
The pre-game rain showers didn't dampen the High Point University women's soccer Big South Conference opener as the Panthers blanked Longwood University, 2-0, for their fifth shutout this season.  The Lancers helped the Panthers get off to a fast start as a Longwood defender kicked in Courtney Andruczk's cross, which was intended for Tessa Carlin, within the opening two minutes.

GARDNER-WEBB 2, RADFORD 2 | BOX SCORE
In the first Big South contest for both teams, the Runnin' Bulldogs got off to an all important good start. After a toe to toe first 23 minutes, GWU found a breakthrough by way of a penalty kick. Senior forward Livi Tanzer stepped up, sent her shot from six yards off the post and over the line, putting the Runnin' Bulldogs into a 1-nil lead. Despite Radford controlling the majority of possession, Gardner-Webb found chances via quick breaks and winning the ball back defensively.  The Highlanders wasted no time finding a response however, drawing the game level at 1-1 by the 29th minute. Another well timed cross and finish on the back-post just minutes after that, meant Radford had gone from behind to ahead by the 35th minute, suddenly in front 2-1.

PRESBYTERIAN 2, USC UPSTATE 2 | BOX SCORE
Presbyterian dueled USC Upstate to a competitive 2-2 draw on Wednesday night at Martin Stadium. Sydney Lassiter and Allie Williams produced their first-ever collegiate scores as PC notched the equalizer twice.  Fighting tooth-and-nail with the same squad who fell one match shy of the NCAA Tournament last fall, the Blue Hose found the back of the net in the 33rd and 49th minutes after falling behind 1-0 and later 2-1.  Upstate's goals were from Emily Rangel and Paige Armstrong.
