Big South Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Jan. 13

Cassie Gallagher (Cookeville, Tenn.) is the Freshman of the Week for games played Jan. 6-12, it was announced today.
Kindseth averaged 21.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game while leading Presbyterian to its first two conference wins of the season. She shot 48.6 percent (17-of-35) from the field and 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from the free-throw line. The senior opened the week with a team-high 17 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals in an 18-point comeback victory over USC Upstate. Six of her points came in the fourth quarter, including a basket with six seconds left to pull within one, followed by a steal and two free throws with three seconds remaining to secure a win, 59-58. Kindseth capped the week with a double-double at UNC Asheville, tallying a career-high 25 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Wilson shot 63.6 percent (14-of-22) from the field and averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game to help Longwood extend its winning streak to six games. She also shot 44.4 percent (4-of-9) from three-point range and was a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. In just 21 minutes during a dominant 95-51 win over UNC Asheville, the senior recorded a career-high 23 points, along with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, sinking two three-pointers and all five free throws. Wilson followed that performance with 17 points, five rebounds, four steals, and one block to lead the Lancers to a 77-59 victory over Winthrop, handing the Eagles their first Big South loss of the season.
Gallagher averaged 11.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game for USC Upstate last week, leading all Big South freshmen in scoring. She shot 42.1 percent (8-of-19) from the field and 33.3 percent (4-of-12) from three-point range, tying for the conference lead with four made three-pointers. Gallagher opened the week with 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting against Presbyterian, adding five rebounds and one block. She followed with 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists against Radford. The freshman started both games and averaged 30.0 minutes per contest.
