Big South Announces Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - Jan. 16

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during the weekend of Jan. 10-12.  Charleston Southern’s Freya Buglass (Trowbridge, England) was selected as the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while High Point pole vaulter Sydney Horn (Lancaster, Pa.) earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.  HPU’s Emily Romano (Glen Allen, Va.) was the Women’s Freshman of the Week honoree.
 
Buglass won the 800m race at the Gamecock Opener with a time of 2:15.53.  She was also the runner-up in the 1000m run with a school-record time of 2:52.20 -- the third-fastest time in Big South history
 
Horn recorded a vault of 4.30m in the Elite Division of the East Coast Pole Vault Convention & Throws Festival.  It was her second-straight meet clearing 4.30 meters.
 
Romano vaulted a season-best 3.83m in the College Division at the East Coast Pole Vault Convention & Throws Festival.  The effort is second-best in the conference this season.
