Big South Announces Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - Jan. 23
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during the weekend of Jan. 17-19.

Tim Brown (Davidson, N.C.) received Men’s Track Athlete of the Week accolades, teammate
Ricardo Montes de Oca was tabbed the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, and UNC Asheville’s
Paul Kiprotich (Keringet, Nakuru, Kenya) was the Men’s Freshman Athlete of the Week honoree.
Brown ran a school-record time of 33.56 in the 300m at the Virginia Tech Invitational. He placed second in the event and his time ranks second all-time in Big South history. Brown also finished second in the 400m race with a school-record 47.63.
Montes de Oca broke his own High Point, Big South and Venezuelan National record in the pole vault with a height of 5.57m at the Virginia Tech Invitational. He won the event, and his new standard is second-best in the NCAA this season.
Kiprotich ran a school-record time of 8:19.63 in the 3000m at the Virginia Tech Invitational, which ranks fifth in the Big South this year.
