Longwood's Justin LaRue Voted 2025 Preseason Men's Golfer of the Year

Justin LaRue (South Chesterfield, Va.) has been voted the Big South Preseason Men's Golfer of the Year, it was announced today. The award is voted on by the league’s head coaches and is based on this past fall season’s results entering the 2025 spring campaign.
LaRue, the 2024 Big South Men’s Golfer of the Year, finished the 2024 fall season with a league-best 68.64 scoring average in four events (11 rounds). He had three Top 10 finishes -- including back-to-back victories in October. He first won the Elon Phoenix Invitational with a 12-under 201 (69-69-63), then claimed the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate the next week with an 11-under 202 (71-64-67). LaRue was 28-under-par for the fall season, including rounds of 8-under 63 and 7-under 64, and all 11 rounds he played were at even-par or better -- including eight under-par rounds. Currently ranked No. 161 in the nation, LaRue finished under par in all four tournaments during the fall, and tallied six of his 11 rounds in the 60s.
The 2025 Big South Men's Golf Championships will again be contested at the Ocean Creek Golf Course on Fripp Island, S.C., and are scheduled from April 20-23. The championship will feature 54 holes of stroke play followed by a four-team Match Play Semifinal and Final to determine the Big South’s automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
