Big South Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week - Oct. 13

Anya Tribune (Charlotte, N.C.) and Radford’s
Katie Purnell (Asheville, N.C.) have been named the Big South Women’s Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Gardner-Webb’s
Savannah Dixon (Raleigh, N.C.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 6-12, it was announced today. In addition, High Point’s
Joellie Giquinto (Medford Lakes, N.J.) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week.
Tribune scored the game-winning and lone goal in Gardner-Webb’s 1-0 victory over Charleston Southern. Entering off the bench, the sophomore netted an unassisted goal in the 72nd minute to lift the Runnin’ Bulldogs at home. It was her first goal of the season and the second of her collegiate career. Tribune’s goal came on her only shot in 14 minutes of action.
Purnell scored the late game-winning goal in Radford’s 1-0 victory at UNC Asheville. In the 77th minute, the junior capitalized on a rebound off a save and converted an unassisted left-footed strike for her first goal of the season and first game-winner of her career. She totaled two shots in 31 minutes of action.
Dixon recorded six saves on 22 shots faced in Gardner-Webb’s 1-0 shutout win over Charleston Southern. All six came in the second half, including three in the final 13 minutes after the Runnin’ Bulldogs took a late lead. Her final stop, with just 70 seconds remaining, secured her third straight shutout. Dixon played the full 90 minutes in goal.
Giquinto scored her first career goal, which proved to be a game winner in High Point’s victory over Presbyterian. The freshman put the Panthers on the board with an unassisted strike in the 30th minute to give HPU an early 1-0 advantage. It was her only shot of the match while playing all 90 minutes.
