Big South Announces Women's Golfers of the Week - Oct. 29

Eugenie Varet (Maule, France) has been named the Big South Women’s Golfer of the Week, while High Point’s
Makayla Grubb (Stafford, Va.) and Longwood’s
Avery Nordman (Ottawa, Ontario) shared the Women’s Freshman of the Week honor for events played Oct. 23-28, it was announced today.
Varet was the runner-up at the Edisto Island Invitational (par 71, 5,980 yards) with a 2-over par 215 (76-71-68). She concluded the event tied for first in the 77-player field with a 2-under score on the par-3 holes, and was second on the par-5 layouts at 3-under. Varet also made 10 birdies in recording her best overall finish at CSU.
Grubb tied for ninth at the White Sands Invitational (par 72, 6,316 yards) at Paradise Island in the Bahamas with a 12-over 228 (77-74-77) while battling through harsh wind conditions from Hurricane Melissa approaching the Caribbean. She posted her conference-leading fourth Top 10 finish, and managed to tie for sixth in par-4 scoring (4.23) in tying as the Panthers’ top scorer.
Nordman tied for 14th at the Edisto Island Invitational with an 11-over 224 (75-74-75) to lead the Lancers to a fourth-place team finish. Battling the elements in Edisto Beach, S.C., Nordman closed the tournament with eight consecutive pars to finish as Longwood’s top scorer for the fifth time in five appearances.
