FARMVILLE, Va. (www.BigSouthSports.com) Charleston Southern had five of the top eight finishers to win its sixth consecutive Big South Men’s Cross Country Championship Friday morning on the campus of Longwood University.  The Buccaneers finished with 21 team points, tied for the third-best team score in Championship history.

CSU’s Caleb Kenyon crossed the finish line in 24:55.6 to win by 4.4 seconds over teammate Hayden Goode (25:01.00), followed by the Bucs’ Micah Gilpatric in third-place at 25:01.03.  Kenyon is Charleston Southern’s first individual champion since Gilpatric won back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023.  Gilpatric’s effort secured his fifth career All-Conference honor, becoming just the second men’s cross country runner with this distinction in Big South annals.

High Point finished second with 45 points in the team standings, as Avery Crowell (25:02.3) and Gavin Stevens (25:04.2) paced the Panthers with fourth- and fifth-place finishes, respectively.  Radford’s Charlie Dance (25:07.7) was sixth, and CSU’s Martin Iriondo (seventh, 25:09.0) rounded out the top seven finishers for First-Team All-Big South honors.

High Point’s Max Bonilla received Freshman of the Year honors for his 10th-place performance in the meet, while USC Upstate’s Joshua Gillis was recognized as the Big South Newcomer of the Year.  Upstate’s fourth-place team finish was its best-ever conference standing since joining the Big South in 2018.

Following the race, Charleston Southern head coach Jim Stintzi was voted the Big South Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year for the sixth time in eight years, while Radford’s Hayat Khan was voted the Men’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the league’s sports information directors.  The final team results and standings along with this year’s honorees are listed below.
