Big South Announces Women's Cross Country Runners of the Week - Oct. 8

Brianna Malone (Barrington, N.H.) has been named the Big South Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, while UNC Asheville’s
Marika Dickel (Keezletown, Va.) and High Point’s
Olivia Purdy (Romeo, Mich.) were selected as the Women’s Co-Freshman of the Week honorees for meets ran Oct. 2-5, it was announced today.
Malone clocked a personal-best time of 20:21.2 at the Paul Short Run 6K, and placed 23rd within a field of nearly 350 runners. She shaved off 28 seconds from her previous best 6K time set at last year’s NCAA Regional race.
Dickel recorded a time of 18:07 at the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday, and was 76th overall in the 309-runner 5K Gold race. She scored points for the Bulldogs as she was Asheville’s fourth finisher.
Purdy posted a time of 21:57.3 at the Paul Short Run as High Point’s fourth finisher of the meet.
