Big South Announces Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Nov. 17

Brycen Blaine (Richmond, Va.) has been named the Big South Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Presbyterian forward
Chidi Chiakwelu (Houston, Texas) is the Freshman of the Week honoree for games played Nov. 10-16, it was announced today.
Blaine averaged 28.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.7 steals in three games last week, in addition to making 16-of-37 three-pointers ( =43.2 percent) and all 14 free throw attempts. He started his week with a 42-point, 11-rebound double-double along with eight assists, two steals and one block in the Bucs’ victory at The Citadel, in which he made eight treys. He followed with 22 points against both Alabama A&M (Thursday) and Lindenwood (Friday) at the Bulldog Bash Tournament, and tallied five assists and three steals vs. the Lions. For the week, Blaine was 28-of-60 from the field ( =46.7 percent).
In just 26 minutes of action off the bench across three games, Chiakwelu scored 18 points, grabbed five rebounds, blocked three shots and was 7-of-8 from the floor ( =87.5). He made three crucial blocks while scoring four points in just nine minutes in PC’s two-point victory at Georgia State last Monday. Chiakwelu followed with 11 points in 11 minutes at South Carolina on Wednesday, and finished with three points, one rebound and one steal in six minutes at Sacramento State on Sunday.
