Big South Announces Volleyball Players of the Week - Nov. 3

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – High Point middle blocker Addison Freeland (Herriman, Utah) has been selected the Big South Volleyball Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 27-Nov. 2, it was announced today.  In addition, High Point’s Remy Catojo (Winnipeg, Manitoba) is the Setter of the Week, Gardner-Webb’s Nalani McBride (Stafford, Va.) was voted the Libero of the Week, and USC Upstate outside hitter Summer Kohler (North Port, Fla.) earned Big South Freshman of the Week honors.
 
Freeland helped the Panthers to a 3-0 week with 45 kills (3.46 per set), a .442 hitting clip, 14.0 blocks (1.08 per set) and 53.0 points (4.08).  She posted a career-high 19 kills along with seven blocks in the Panthers’ 3-2 win over USC Upstate with a .515 hitting percentage.  Freeland also hit .367 against College of Charleston (15-4-30) and .435 against UNC Asheville (11-1-23).
 
Catojo led the Panthers with 8.91 assists per set, and added 23 digs (2.09 per set), five blocks and four service aces in HPU’s three victories last week.  She opened her week with 16 assists and five kills in three sets against College of Charleston, then recorded a 51-assist, 10-dig double-double with three service aces in a win over USC Upstate.  Catojo concluded her week with 31 assists and 10 digs in a sweep of UNC Asheville.
 
McBride notched 6.00 digs per set in three appearances last week.  She opened with 17 in a sweep of Lees-McRae last Tuesday, then tallied 23 in a four-set setback against Charleston Southern on Friday.  McBride finished with 23 digs in a 3-0 win over Presbyterian on Saturday.
 
Kohler recorded 41 kills (4.56 per set), 43.0 points (4.78) and hit .281 in two matches last week, along with 14 digs, three blocks, two assists and one service ace.  She opened her weekend with a career-high 22 kills and 22.5 points at High Point, in addition to 10 digs for her seventh double-double of the year.  Kohler closed her weekend with 19 kills and 21.0 points behind a .341 hitting efficiency in a four-set victory at Radford.
