Big South Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Dec. 1

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– High Point guard Macy Spencer (Katy, Texas) has been named the Big South Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Longwood guard Jesstynie Scott (Americus, Ga.) is the Freshman of the Week for games played Nov. 24-30, it was announced today.
 
In two wins last week, Spencer averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists, and was named MVP of the Big Easy Classic. She shot 45.7 percent from the field (16-of-35), 46.4 percent from 3-point range (13-of-28) and was perfect at the free throw line (2-of-2). The junior guard recorded a career-high 31 points and made nine 3-pointers (9-of-17) — one shy of tying the Big South record — while adding five rebounds and four assists against Louisiana. Six of her nine triples came in the first quarter. Spencer then posted a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double with two blocks and a steal as High Point handed College of Charleston its first loss of the season.
 
Scott averaged 8.3 points in three games and helped Longwood go 2-0 at the Puerto Rico Clasico with wins over Buffalo and 2025 Southland Conference champion Stephen F. Austin. She shot 55.6 percent for the week (10-of-18), 75.0 percent from 3-point range (3-of-4) and added 1.7 rebounds per game. The freshman opened the week 3-for-5 with nine points against No. 14/13 Ole Miss before recording 11 points, three rebounds and two steals against Buffalo in the first game of the Puerto Rico Clasico. She added five points and one assist in the tournament finale against SFA.
