Big South Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Dec. 15

Macy Spencer (Katy, Texas) has been named the Big South Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Gardner-Webb guard
Makayla Legette (Latta, S.C.) is the Freshman of the Week for games played Dec. 8-14, it was announced today.
Spencer scored 25 points and set career highs in assists (6) and blocks (4) in High Point’s 82-60 win over N.C. Central. She added five rebounds and two steals, went 11-of-12 from the free throw line ( =91.7 percent) and connected on a pair of 3-pointers. The junior scored 17 of her 25 points and recorded three of her four blocks in the first half, helping the Panthers take an eight-point lead into the break. She added eight points and four assists in the second half to secure HPU’s fifth straight win and 10th overall.
Legette nearly posted a triple-double with career highs of 16 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in Gardner-Webb’s 77-62 win over Western Carolina. She was a perfect 6-of-6 from the field and 4-of-4 from 3-point range in 35 minutes. The freshman scored eight points in each half, while eight of her nine rebounds came on the defensive glass. She also added one steal. Legette surpassed her previous career highs by six points, four rebounds and four assists.
