Big South Announces Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Dec. 22

Dennis Parker Jr. (Richmond, Va.) has been named the Big South Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Charleston Southern guard
Jacob Taylor (Marietta, Ga.) is the Freshman of the Week honoree for games played Dec. 15-21, it was announced today.
Parker averaged 26.0 points and 8.0 rebounds against in-state foes William & Mary and VMI last week, in addition to 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals, a 50.0 clip from three-point range (9-of-18) and 84.6 free throw percentage (11-of-13). At W&M on Thursday, he recorded a 26-point, 11-rebound double-double along with three assists and three steals. All five of his three-pointers came in the second half as the Highlanders’ comeback fell just short. In Sunday’s home win over VMI, Parker scored 26 points and was 8-of-13 from the floor ( =61.5 percent) plus five boards, two assists and a steal. He scored or assisted 19 points in the second half against the Keydets.
Taylor averaged 9.5 points and was 7-of-10 from the field ( =70.0 percent) in games against North Florida and Furman. He opened his week with seven points, three rebounds and a block in 19 minutes in CSU’s home victory over UNF on Thursday. Taylor then matched his career-high with 12 points on Sunday at the Paladins, as he was 5-of-7 overall from the floor and 2-of-3 from long range.
