Big South Announces Men's Tennis Players of the Week - Feb. 12

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– Longwood's Timéo Puech (Maisons-Alfort, France) has been named the Big South Men's Tennis Player of the Week, while Gardner-Webb's Alexandre Bergeron (Montreal, Canada) is the Men's Freshman of the Week honoree for matches played Feb. 3-9, it was announced today.

Puech went 2-0 from the top spot in the lineup to help Longwood defeat Campbell, 4-3, on the road Saturday. Alongside his doubles partner, Gonzalez Paiva, the duo clinched the doubles point against the Camels with a 6-3 victory. Longwood's win against Campbell was the program's first since April 10, 2007. 

Bergeron went 4-0 in singles play for the week while remaining undefeated on the season.  He tallied wins on the No. 4 court against SoCon members UNC Greensboro and Mercer, a No. 3 victory vs. Belmont Abbey, and a No. 2 triumph over BAC.  In doubles play, Bergeron went 2-1 with wins against Mercer and Belmont Abbey.
