Big South Announces Women's Tennis Players of the Week - Feb. 12

Carlé Botha (Pretoria, South Africa) has been named the Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Week, while Longwood's
Alexandra Magia (Athens, Greece) is the Women's Freshman of the Week honoree for matches played Feb. 3-9, it was announced today.
Botha finished with a perfect 5-0 record between her singles and doubles matches to lead the Buccaneers to an unblemished 3-0 mark against their competition last week, which included a pair of sweeps. She clinched the match against Queens, winning 6-2,6-2, on the No. 3 court. She would also secure a 7-5, 6-1, singles win against South Carolina State before ending her week with a win against Lees-McRae. In doubles, she and her partner put together two key wins, defeating Queens, 6-0, at No. 2 to clinch the doubles point, and Lees-McRae, 6-4, at No. 3.
Magia went 2-0 to help Longwood defeat Campbell, 4-3, on the road Saturday. She won 7-5 at No. 2 doubles with partner Feline van Eijkelenburg to clinch the doubles point, and then made the contest 3-1 in the dual with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles. The win was Longwood's first win over Campbell since 2006.
