Big South Announces Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week - Feb. 18

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– High Point attacker Allie Connally (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) has been named the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Furman goalkeeper Sailor Henderson (Greenville, S.C.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Feb. 10-16, it was announced today. In addition, Paladins attacker Lily Toole (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) has been named the Freshman of the Week.
 
Connally tied her career high with six points on two goals and a career-high four assists to lead High Point to a 15-10 road win over Campbell. She also matched her career best with two ground balls, set a new high with two caused turnovers, and added two draw controls. In the first period, the senior scored twice and assisted on two more goals to help HPU build an early 6-1 lead. She then added two more assists on back-to-back fourth-quarter goals to secure the win for the Panthers. All three of Connally’s shots on the day went on target.
 
Henderson posted a career-high 10 saves on 23 shots in Furman’s 11-9 season-opening win over Old Dominion. She finished with a .526 save percentage and added a ground ball and a caused turnover. In just her second career start, Henderson made four first-half saves to keep the Paladins within one at halftime. With a 9-8 lead entering the fourth quarter, she came up clutch with five key saves in the final frame while allowing just one goal on seven shots to secure the victory.
 
In her collegiate debut, Toole led Furman with a game-high five points on four goals and an assist in the season-opening two-goal win over Old Dominion. She went 1-for-1 on free-position shots and caused one turnover. Toole’s first career goal came unassisted with 4:59 left in the first quarter, marking the Paladins’ first score of the season. She then tallied three more goals in the second half as Furman, down 4-3 at halftime, outscored the Monarchs 8-5 after the break.
