Big South Announces Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Feb. 24

Kezza Giffa (Paris, France) has been named the Big South Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while USC Upstate guard
Mister Dean (Miami, Fla.) is the Freshman of the Week honoree for games played Feb. 17-23, it was announced today.
Giffa averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 assists and made 56.0 percent from the field (14-of-25) in leading the Panthers to two wins as well as clinching a share of the Big South regular-season championship. He opened his week with 18 points along with four helpers in HPU’s home victory over Charleston Southern. On Saturday at Gardner-Webb, Giffa scored a game-high 23 points with a season-high six assists and no turnovers. For the week, he was 4-of-7 from beyond the arc ( =57.1 percent) and made 9-of-12 free throws ( =75.0).
Dean shared the team scoring lead with 16 points in Upstate’s 79-69 win at Charleston Southern on Saturday to help snap the Spartans’ 11-game losing streak. He added six rebounds, two steals, one block, one assist and was 6-of-11 from the floor ( =54.5 percent) against the Bucs.
