Big South Announces Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week - Feb. 25
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Furman midfielder
Paige Harman (Fairport, N.Y.) has been named the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Paladins goalkeeper
Madigan Brewer (Davidson, Md.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Feb. 17-23, it was announced today. In addition, Furman attacker
Lily Toole (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) has been named the Freshman of the Week.
Harman led Furman with six points on four goals and two assists in a 15-11 road win at Kennesaw State, helping the Paladins start 2-0 for the first time since 2020. Her four goals matched a career high, and she added two draw controls. The senior opened the scoring for Furman less than four minutes into the game and assisted on goals in both the first and second quarters. With the Paladins holding a narrow 10-9 lead entering the fourth, Harman delivered a hat trick, scoring three of Furman’s five goals in the final frame to help secure the victory.
In her collegiate debut, Brewer made 11 saves and held Kennesaw State to just five second-half goals, securing a 15-11 victory and earning her first career win in net. The Davidson, Md., native recorded five saves in the first quarter, three in the second, one in the third, and two in the fourth. Protecting a one-goal lead entering the final frame, she shut out the Owls over the last 12 minutes as Furman scored four unanswered to break an 11-11 tie. Brewer played all 60 minutes, facing 33 shots and finishing with a .500 save percentage—the highest save total by a Paladin goalkeeper this season.
Toole recorded three points on two goals and an assist in Furman’s four-goal road win at Kennesaw State on Saturday. She also collected two ground balls, tying for the team high, and caused one turnover. The freshman attacker scored her first goal early in the first quarter to give the Paladins a 4-3 lead, then assisted on another to help them take a one-goal advantage into halftime. She sealed the victory with her second goal late in the fourth quarter, extending Furman’s lead to 14-11 and putting the game out of reach.
