Big South Announces Men's Tennis Players of the Week - Feb. 5

Kim Niethammer (Harrenburg, Germany) has been named the Big South Men's Tennis Player of the Week, while teammate
Boyd Schreiber (New South Wales, Australia) is the Men's Freshman of the Week honoree for matches played Jan. 27-Feb. 2, it was announced today.
Niethammer helped Gardner-Webb win two matches last week with three wins. He first clinched GWU's 6-1 victory at North Florida with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles over Youssef Labbene. Niethammer also clinched the doubles point against UNF as he and partner Alex Lepine tallied a 6-2 win on the No. 3 court. Finally, he earned a 6-2, 6-0 straight-set No. 3 singles victory in the Runnin' Bulldogs' 4-3 win over Chattanooga.
Schreiber went 3-0 last week against North Florida and Chattanooga. He first earned a win at No. 5 singles against North Florida after taking down Joao Portugal in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Schreiber followed with two key victories against UTC. He teamed with Eduardo Dias to earn a victory at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, then notched a 7-5, 6-4 triumph at No. 6 singles.
