Big South Announces Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - Feb. 6
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during the weekend of Jan. 30-Feb. 2.
High Point’s 4x400m relay team of
Marquis Belle,
Aidan Britt,
Kelly Bell and
Tim Brown received Men’s Track Athlete of the Week accolades, High Point’s
Ricardo Montes de Oca was tabbed the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, and the Panthers’
Camerin Williams was the Men’s Freshman Athlete of the Week honoree.
Belle, Britt, Bell and Brown broke the program record with a time of 3:09.04 at the Gamecock Challenge. The effort ranks third all-time in Big South history and is the 17th-best time in the country this year.
Montes de Oca won the pole vault for the fourth time this year, as he cleared 5.55m at the Gamecock Challenge -- just shy of his own Big South record of 5.57m.
Williams was a double winner at the Gamecock Challenge, as he placed first in both the 600m and 800m races while breaking the High Point program records in each event as well as the Big South record in the 600m. The freshman recorded a 1:18.25 time in the 600m, and a 1:50.97 performance in the 800m.
