Big South Announces Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - Feb. 6
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during the weekend of Jan. 30-Feb. 2.
High Point’s
Dae’Nitra Hester (Miami, Fla.) was selected the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while teammate
Sydney Horn (Lancaster, Pa.) earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors. Radford’s
Jeylah Hamrick (Williamsburg, Va.) was tabbed the Women’s Freshman of the Week.
Hester posted a Big South season-best time in the 200m at the Gamecock Challenge with a 24.53, good for fifth-place in the event.
Horn claimed her third victory of the indoor season with a clearance of 4.43m in the pole vault at the Gamecock Challenge. It was her season-best height, and ranks No. 11 nationally.
Hamrick clocked the Big South’s top time in the 400m this season with a 56.66 to win the event at the VMI Winter Relays. The performance is fourth all-time in program history. Hamrick also helped the 4x400m relay team finish in a school-record time of 3:51.77.
