ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The lights were bright in Kimmel Arena on Thursday for the UNC Asheville men's basketball team, as the Bulldogs defeated Gardner-Webb 78-70 in the Big South Conference's third ESPNU Wildcard game of the season. Asheville extended its winning streak in Kimmel Arena to 11-0 following Thursday's victory. The Bulldogs are one of 21 teams who have not lost at home this season. Asheville is now on a seven-game winning streak, which puts them tied for 10th in the nation for the longest win streak.
With Thursday's win, Asheville sweeps the regular-season series with Gardner-Webb, after beating the Runnin' Bulldogs in Boiling Springs 61-53 on Jan. 22. The win completes Asheville's series redemption sweep over Gardner-Webb after the Runnin' Bulldogs took both regular-season games from Asheville during the 2023-24 season. Asheville is now on a three-game winning streak over Gardner-Webb, following the Bulldogs' 83-72 overtime win in the semifinal round of the Big South Conference tournament.
