High Point Leads 2025 Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships Following Day 1

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- High Point University leads the 2025 Big South Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships following the first day of competition.  The Panthers hold the lead with 70 points after five scored events, ahead of second-place Charleston Southern (48 points).  Gardner-Webb sits in third-place with 30 points, followed by USC Upstate in fourth (17 points), UNC Asheville in fifth (13 points) and Winthrop in sixth (11 points).

Three Championship Meet records were broken on Friday.  High Point's Distance Medley Relay team of Gavin Stevens, Myles Darroch, Camerin Williams and Jason Thomson won the event in a record time of 9:54.14, while HPU's Reid Holloway captured the pole vault title with a record clearance of 5.31m.  Gardner-Webb's Quentin Peterson clinched the shot put with a record throw of 18.83m.  Other champions crowned on Friday were Charleston Southern's Micah Gilpatric in the 5,000m run (14:47.73) and High Point's Justin Sluijter in the long jump with a program-record leap of 7.59m.
