Presbyterian and Winthrop opened their respective softball conference series with wins on Friday.

The Presbyterian College softball team has accomplished three consecutive Big South Conference victories for the first time in three years, continuing to steer a workmanlike defense to a 4-1 Friday night win over league adversary Charleston Southern.  Junior pitcher Peyton Duncan cruised to her ninth individual win of the campaign with a single run allowed – and an unearned one, at that – while sophomore Kasey Wolfe tallied her third save of the spring as PC won their fourth straight contest overall.

Winthrop extended its winning streak to six straight after opening its weekend road series with Gardner-Webb by earning a 9-2 victory, Friday afternoon in Big South Conference softball action.
