Big South Baseball Summary - March 22
USC Upstate, Longwood and Presbyterian all clinched series wins on Saturday by taking the second game of their respective conference series.
USC UPSTATE 13, CHARLESTON SOUTHERN 0 | BOX SCORE
After scoring the final 13 runs in a 22-run explosion for the team's offense to open its second Big South series of the year, USC Upstate baseball scored 13 additional runs Saturday, securing a series victory behind a 13-0 shutout win Saturday over Charleston Southern at Nielsen Field at CSU Ballpark. The Spartans enter Sunday's series finale having scored 26 unanswered runs.
LONGWOOD 9, UNC ASHEVILLE 7 | BOX SCORE
James Nelson, Myles Webb and Tre Keels broke out the boom sticks on Saturday, and Longwood baseball took down UNC Asheville 9-7 on Saturday afternoon at Greenwood Field. Nelson swatted a two-run home run in the first, Webb added a two-run shot in the seventh, and Keels cranked a two-run home run in the eighth. That was enough, coupled with a solid five-inning start from right-hander Guillermo Garcia, Jr. to get the team over the hump and take the series with a chance to earn the sweep on Sunday. It was the team's first weekend series win this season.
PRESBYTERIAN 14, GARDNER-WEBB 13 | BOX SCORE
The Presbyterian College baseball team (11-13, Big South: 3-2) claimed its first Big South series victory of the season, edging Gardner-Webb (11-13, Big South: 1-4) in a high-scoring 14-13 thriller on Saturday.
