Big South Announces Women's Tennis Players of the Week - March 26

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– Radford's Julia Abrams (Mooresville, N.C.) has been named the Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Week, while Longwood's Alexandra Magia (Athens, Greece) is the Women's Freshman of the Week honoree for matches played March 17-23, it was announced today.

Abrams helped guide the Highlanders to a conference opener victory over Longwood and was perfect in singles and doubles action against North Carolina Central. The senior was the clinching point on court two in the thrilling 4-3 victory over Longwood. Against the Eagles, she stayed hot with a doubles win on court one and a straight sets win on court two singles.

Magia went a combined 3-1 on the week in singles and doubles at Radford, at George Mason and against UNC Asheville, helping the Lancers to a 4-1 win over George Mason on Friday. She was 2-0 in doubles action on the week, teaming up with Feline van Eijkelenburg at No. 2 as the pair beat Rachel Ekanem and Natalia Reimer of Radford, 6-2, and Asheville's Avery Sager and Valeria Centeno, 6-3. Magia also topped Radford's Reimer at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-4.
