HIGH POINT 20, PRESBYTERIAN 7 | BOX SCORE
Big South Conference play officially opened up for the High Point University women's lacrosse team as the Panthers shined in the 20-7 victory over Presbyterian College Wednesday night. The Panthers had five players score three or more goals in the 20-goal outing. Of those, HPU was led by Shannon Smith and Esprit Cha, who both had four goals and one assist apiece. Tatum Goettelmann made her first career start and totaled six points on three goals and three assists. Kate Prentice netted her first HPU hat trick, while Allie Connally had yet another strong performance with three goals, three assists, and 10 draw controls.
FURMAN 15, GARDNER-WEBB 5 | BOX SCORE
The Furman women's lacrosse team opened Big South Conference play Wednesday evening with a 15-5 victory over the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs at Paladin Stadium. Furman improves to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the Big South. With the loss, Gardner-Webb drops to 0-9 on the season and 0-1 in league play. Paige Harman, who also became the ninth player in program history to reach 100 career goals, guided the Paladin offense with career highs of eight points and five goals while adding three assists.
