Charleston Southern and Longwood recorded doubleheader sweeps on Saturday to clinch their respective series, while Radford split with USC Upstate to earn the series win over the Spartans.

The Charleston Southern softball team battled back from a game-one loss and came away with two victories on Saturday, taking the three-game series on the road against the Winthrop Eagles.  The Buccaneers (14-17, 4-2 in conference) scored five runs in the final two innings in the first game of the doubleheader, winning 6-5 with two runs in the seventh inning. Riley Lauffer went the distance in the rubber game with a five-hit, 7.0-inning shutout, as the Buccaneers took the series with a 9-0 win.

The Longwood softball team blasted five home runs in a 16-3, 5-3 doubleheader sweep of Gardner-Webb on Saturday at Bank of the James Park to open its Big South Conference home slate on Saturday.  The Lancers (8-22, 2-3) pounded out 18 hits in the two games and got strong pitching from Maggie Chapin, Er'ron Burton and Morgan Strickland to run its all-time record against Gardner-Webb to 37-3 since 2000.

Game 1 - With Sophia Kardatzke being walked to first, Upstate's first hit opened the scoring column with Carson Shaw smacking a two-run homer to left field giving the Spartans an early two-run lead. 

Game 2 - Looking to steady things after the Spartans offensive outburst in the previous game, the Highlanders turned to the freshman Dakota Redmon for game two and she delivered. After a two-out single, Redmon kept the Spartans quiet in the opening frame allowing the offense to score right out the gates for the third time this weekend.
