CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – High Point outfielder Konni Durschlag (Charlotte, N.C.) has been named the Big South Baseball Player of the Week, while teammate Wade Walton (Lithia, Fla.) is the Starting Pitcher of the Week for games played March 24-30, it was announced today. In addition, Charleston Southern’s Ryan DuSang (Commerce Township, Mich.) was selected as the Relief Pitcher of the Week, while Presbyterian’s Tyrell Williams (Orlando, Fla.) is the Freshman of the Week honoree.

Durschlag posted a slash line of .765/.826/1.353, tallying 11 runs, nine RBI, four doubles, and two home runs during High Point’s 3-1 week. He went 13-for-17 at the plate, recording at least three hits in all four games and drawing six walks, including one intentional. The senior finished 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two RBI, and three runs scored at Appalachian State on Tuesday. Over the weekend sweep at Radford, he notched three hits in each game, highlighted by a career-high six-RBI performance on Saturday, where he delivered a three-run double in the third inning and a three-run homer in the sixth.

Walton struck out 10 over 6.0 innings to earn the win Friday night at Radford. He allowed three hits, two earned runs, and three walks while holding the Highlanders scoreless through the first three frames as the Panthers built their lead. He surrendered one run on an RBI groundout in the fourth and another on a solo homer in the sixth. The right-hander finished one strikeout shy of his season high.

DuSang tossed 3.0 hitless, scoreless innings across three appearances for Charleston Southern, earning one save. He recorded six of his outs via strikeout and did not allow a hit or a walk. The right-hander escaped jams with runners in scoring position in both the midweek game against UNC Wilmington and Friday’s series opener against Winthrop. On Saturday, he secured the save by retiring the Eagles in order in the ninth, clinching the Buccaneers’ first conference series win.

Williams delivered a strong outing in just his second career start, earning his first win after tossing 7.0 innings in Presbyterian’s victory over UNC Asheville. The right-hander allowed three hits, one earned run, and one walk while striking out two. He was perfect through four innings before exiting with a 4-2 lead.
