Big South Women's Lacrosse Summary - April 9
Longwood picked up its first Big South win of the season on Wednesday, while Mercer moved to 4-0 with a road victory. High Point improved to 5-0, and Wofford won its second-straight match.
LONGWOOD 17, RADFORD 13 | BOX SCORE
Longwood lacrosse put together its finest performance of the season on Wednesday night, and it led to a 17-13 win at Radford. The Lancers (1-10, 1-3 Big South) were strong in all phases of the game. The offense spread the load behind hat tricks for Jordan Fitzgerald, Kendra DeFilippo, and four goals from Ellie Rumbaugh along with multi-goal games from Bailey Stratton and Alexandra Hirst.
MERCER 21, PRESBYTERIAN 4 | BOX SCORE
Abby Morrison scored four first half goals and the Mercer women's lacrosse team was dominant from start to finish in a 21-4 win at Presbyterian Wednesday evening from Clinton, South Carolina. It was a mostly balance scoring attack as 10 different Mercer players scored at least one goal, led by Morrison's four goals. Defensively, Mercer held Presbyterian to just 13 shots compared to 32 for the Bears. Mercer had 12 caused turnovers led by Abbi Rupnow and Caroline Glus with three each.
HIGH POINT 21, GARDNER-WEBB 2 | BOX SCORE
Allie Connally and Shannon Smith each scored their 100th career point as the High Point University women's lacrosse team won its eighth straight, 21-2, against the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs. The Panthers held the Runnin' Bulldogs scoreless in the second half en route to the team's has fifth scoreless quarter this season. High Point allowed its fewest goals in a game since 2022 when the Panthers defeated Winthrop 23-2 on April 6. Connally led the way with seven points as Reese Dowgiallo scored a team-high four goals. Tatum Goettelmann finished with three goals and two assists while Mandy Brockamp also added another three goals for her first hat trick this season.
WOFFORD 14, WINTHROP 7 | BOX SCORE
After scoring the first four goals of the game, the Wofford College women's lacrosse team came away with a 14-7 win over Winthrop on Wednesday afternoon at Gibbs Stadium. With a 7-5 lead late in the third quarter, the Terriers went on a 6-0 run to pull away from the Eagles and earn their first home win of the season.
