Charleston Southern Wins 2025 Big South Regular-Season Championship

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern capped off its regular season on Wednesday afternoon with a 6-1 victory over Presbyterian on Senior Day. The victory clinched the Buccaneers' outright Big South Regular Season Championship, undefeated conference record and the top seed in the upcoming Big South Championships which will be held next week in Lexington, S.C.
 
The day began with the Buccaneers celebrating their three senior student athletes prior to the start of the match. The group is one of the most successful classes in school history, helping to lead the program to their second and third NCAA Postseason appearances in school history and a total of four Big South championships between the regular season and tournament titles. Additionally, the group entered the match with a collective overall record of 59-24 and 21-2 in Big South matches over their four years. The accomplishments that were read prior to the start of the match for each of the student-athletes can be found below.
 
The Buccaneers got out to a slow start in the match, dropping the doubles point. The duo of Noa Boyd and Amila Jusufbegovic did prevail in the topflight, claiming it by a 6-4 scoreline.
 
In singles, Charleston Southern got rolling claiming all six matches by straight sets. Di Staulo won 6-1, 6-1 at #6 which was followed by Brena Yoris' 6-2, 6-3 win at #5. Boyd claimed hers 6-3, 6-2 on court #3 and Marina Skegro clinched the team's victory 7-5, 7-5 at #2. The day came to an end with Emmie Moore winning 6-3, 6-4 on the #1 court followed by Jusufbegovic capping off the day at 6-3, 7-6 (4).
 
Charleston Southern will now begin their preparations for the 2025 Big South Championships. This year the tournament will be held in Lexington, S.C. at the Lexington County Tennis Complex. The semifinals for the event will be held on Friday, April 18 and the finals on Saturday, April 19.
