Gardner-Webb and USC Upstate swept doubleheaders on Saturday to clinch series wins -- with the Spartans completing a weekend sweep.  Radford and Longwood split their twinbill.

The Gardner-Webb University softball team scored a key doubleheader sweep in Big South play on Saturday afternoon, using four late runs to take control of Game One, and a ninth inning grand slam to pull away in Game Two.

continuing the weekend series on the Hawkins Field at Cyrill Stadium, USC Upstate Softball took the field against Charleston Southern where the Spartans swept the day while combining for 30 hits through both games.

Game 1 - The Radford softball program split their doubleheader Saturday with Longwood with a dominant 8-0 shutout in game one followed by a tight 3-1 loss in the second game.  Dakota Redmon tied her career high for strikeouts with 10 in game one, earning the one-hit shutout over six innings.  Amanda Lee led the offense with three hits and two RBI over the two games.  Radford has now opened their Big South series with a win in four straight tries.  Radford's offense drew five walks in game one but only drew one in the second game, with the one walk representing their lone run.

Game 2 - The Lancers (13-23, 7-4 Big South) won the second game 3-1 in a pitcher's duel after Radford (23-20, 8-3 Big South) won the opener 8-0 in six innings.  Bennett and Hiatt had home runs in the second game for the Lancers to lead the offense in the win.
