Charleston Southern, PC's Patrick Lead Men's Golf Championship After 36 Holes

FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – Presbyterian's Jeep Patrick is the individual leader and Charleston Southern owns a 4-shot edge on the team leaderboard after 36 holes of the stroke play portion of the Big South Conference Men's Golf Championship on Monday at Ocean Creek Golf Course (par 71, 6,256 yards) on Fripp Island, S.C.

Patrick (63-71) tied the Conference Championship record for lowest 18-hole score with his first round 63 (-8) in the morning.  He shot even par in the afternoon for a 36-hole total of 134, and holds a two-stroke lead over USC Upstate's Ross Wright, who carded a 70 and 66 on the day (136).  Charleston Southern's Layne Lambert (69-68) was one of two players with both rounds in the 60s, and is tied for third-place at 5-under 137.  Gardner-Webb teammates Jack Boyer and Bradley Davis Jr. are also tied with Lambert at 5-under, while USC Upstate's Alec Prentice (69-69) and Longwood's Nick Fleming (71-67) are both at 4-under 138.  A total of 12 competitors are under-par following 36 holes.

Charleston Southern led after the first round with a team aggregate 277 (-7), and was ahead by five strokes entering round two.  The Bucs added a 5-under 279, and has a four-stroke lead over USC Upstate -- which jumped from a tie for fifth-place after round one (283) with a 277 in round two for second-place at 560 (-8).  Longwood (283-281) also moved up two spots after round one and sits in third-place at 4-under 564.  Gardner-Webb was second to CSU in the morning and sits in fourth-place on the leaderboard at 566 (282-284, -5).  The top four teams following 54 holes will advance to Wednesday's match play semifinals and finals, with the winner earning the league's automatic berth in the NCAA regionals.
