Presbyterian's Jeep Patrick Wins 2025 Men's Golf Championship Medalist Honors

FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– Presbyterian's Jeep Patrick overcame two bogeys through his first five holes with a stretch of four birdies in five holes to pull away and capture Medalist honors at the Big South Men’s Golf Championship on Tuesday afternoon at the Ocean Creek Golf Course (par 71, 6,526 yards) on Fripp Island, S.C.  Patrick, who tied the Big South Men’s Golf Championship 18-hole record with a 63 in the first round on Monday and was the 36-hole leader at 8-under, finished at 1-under 70 in the final round for a 204 (63-71-70) and become PC's first-ever Big South Men's Golf Championship Medalist.  Patrick is also the first freshman since 2015 to win the Big South individual title, and has secured automatic entry into the NCAA Regionals.

Charleston Southern's Layne Lambert briefly shared the lead with Patrick with 7-under, but fell back before finishing in solo second at 6-under 207 (69-68-67).  Radford's Bobby Dudeck carded the low round of the day with a 67, and vaulted into a tie for second before finishing with USC Upstate's Alec Prentice in third-place at 208.  Three players tied for fifth-place at 210 (3-under) -- High Point's Fred Roberts IV, USC Upstate's Ross Wright and Charleston Southern's Griffin Tarver.  All seven players were named to the Big South All-Championship Team. 

In the team standings, Lambert and Tarver helped Charleston Southern to a 287 team aggregate score on Tuesday and complete its wire-to-wire first-place standing at 9-under 843 for the top seed in Wednesday's Match Play Semifinal round.  The Buccaneers finished nine strokes ahead of High Point and USC Upstate, who tied for second on the leaderboard at 852.  HPU had the best team round of the day at 284 to move up from fifth-place.  Presbyterian finished with a 285 on Tuesday to move up from sixth-place and clinch the fourth and final Match Play berth.  The Blue Hose will make their first-ever appearance in the Big South Match Play round.

Wednesday’s Match Play Championship Semifinal round will feature Charleston Southern against Presbyterian starting on hole one, and High Point vs. USC Upstate beginning on hole 10.   The winners of each match will play in the championship final Wednesday afternoon, with the champion receiving the Big South’s automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.  The Match Play round can be followed on Leaderboard King's Live Scoring platform.
