Longwood and Charleston Southern swept doubleheaders on Saturday to secure berths in the upcoming Big South Softball Championship, while Winthrop and Presbyterian split their twinbill with 1-run outcomes on Saturday.

The Longwood softball team hit four home runs in a doubleheader sweep of USC Upstate at Cyrill Stadium Saturday, winning 5-2 and 6-3 to vault into second place in the Big South Conference standings.

The Charleston Southern softball team took care of business on Saturday afternoon, as they defeated the Runnin' Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb twice at the CSU Softball Field.

PRESBYTERIAN 4, WINTHROP 3 | BOX SCORE

Winthrop softball earned a doubleheader split with Presbyterian College on its final day of the regular season Saturday afternoon. The Eagles took game one with a 3-2 win before falling 4-3 in the nightcap.

Game 1 - The Blue Hose took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as they loaded the bases and scored both runs off a throw home that was off target for the force out.  The Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the third as Grayson Buckner drew a leadoff walk and Emma Jackson followed with a home run to left field.

Game 2 - In the top of the seventh the Blue Hose pushed three runs across to take the lead, 4-3.  The big hit came with two outs as Kendall Owens singled to center with the bases loaded to plate the tying and go-ahead run.
