Gardner-Webb closed out its 2025 season with a road win at Charleston Southern, while Longwood completed its series sweep of USC Upstate to lock up the No. 2 seed in the Softball Championship.

The Gardner-Webb University softball team scored a dramatic win in its series finale at Charleston Southern on Sunday afternoon, using five runs in the sixth inning to turn around a late deficit and win, 9-8. The Runnin' Bulldogs got off to a poor start on Sunday afternoon, falling in a 7-1 hole by the end of the fourth inning. CSU used a sac fly, two singles, and an infield hit to build its early advantage. GWU did get on the board in the third inning, when sophomore right fielder Trina Van Dyke scored junior left fielder Maura Pendleton on an RBI single. As part of the 'Dawgs eventual comeback, Van Dyke would finish the game 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored.
LONGWOOD 4, USC UPSTATE 0 | BOX SCORE
Senior right-hander Er'ron Burton limited USC Upstate to five hits and walk and the Longwood softball team scored in each of the first three innings for a 4-0 win, completing a three-game Big South Conference sweep on the road at Cyrill Stadium on Sunday. Burton (5-4) earned her second complete-game shutout of the weekend and third victory of the week striking out four while issuing just one walk in 97 pitches. The Longwood offense pounded out nine hits for a national audience on ESPNU, jumping on Upstate starter Sierra Maness (20-7) early for the second consecutive day. The Lancers scored all four runs in the first three innings, including redshirt sophomore Maryanna Guy powering her 11th home run of the season out to right field on an 0-1 pitch with one out in the third.
