Seedings Announced for 2025 Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship

Mercer University is the No. 1 seed in the Big South Women’s Lacrosse Championship, it was announced this morning. The Bears,
High Point and associate member
Furman finished as co-regular-season champions, as the three teams finished 7-1 in the Big South standings. Since the teams went 1-1 against each other as well as the same won/loss result against the remaining schools, the tiebreaker process reached the third level -- RPI rank to the thousandth.
Mercer’s RPI value of .511 was just ahead of High Point’s .510 and Furman’s .501, giving the Bears the top seed. With the higher seed determined, the tiebreaker reverted back to a 2-way tie between High Point and Furman, and HPU received the No. 2 seed based on its 18-11 victory over the Paladins on April 4, moving Furman to the No. 3 seed.
Wofford finished the regular season in fourth-place at 5-3 for the No. 4 seed, followed by
Winthrop in fifth-place at 4-4 for the No. 5 seed.
Gardner-Webb closed the year with a 3-5 league mark for the sixth and final seed. Both Winthrop and Gardner-Webb are in the conference’s postseason event for the first time since 2022.
The 2025 Big South Lacrosse Championship will be played at the higher seeds in the first round, then head to No. 1 Mercer for the Semifinals and Final. Both Mercer and High Point earn byes into the Semifinals on Friday, May 2. The first round matches on Tuesday, April 29 feature No. 4 Wofford hosting No. 5 Winthrop at 4:00pm, and No. 3 Furman hosting Gardner-Webb at 7:00pm. The Wofford/Winthrop winner will face top-seeded Mercer on Friday, May 2 at 4:00pm, while the Furman/GWU victor will play No. 2 High Point later that evening at 7:00pm. The Semifinal winners will advance to the Championship match on Sunday, May 4 at 12:00pm.
Every match of the championship will be televised on ESPN+. The Big South’s tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship. The full schedule is as follows:
