Charleston Southern Clinches Share of Women's Tennis Regular-Season Championship

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Charleston Southern clinched a share of the 2025 Big South Regular Season title on Friday afternoon with a 5-1 victory at UNC Asheville, moving the Bucs to 4-0 in league action and the Bulldogs to 4-1. This becomes CSU's third regular season title in the past five seasons after claiming it in back-to-back years in 2021 and 2022.
 
In doubles, The Bulldogs were able to get the early victory on court #3 by a 6-1 scoreline. However, the Buccaneers answered with key wins on the top two courts with 7-6 victories on each. Noa Boyd and Amila Jusufbegovic teamed for the win on the #1 court and Marina Skegro and Kassandra Di Staulo at #2.
 
For singles, Emmie Moore played in the topflight and Jusufbegovic did on the #4 court with each taking victories by straight sets with them being 6-3, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-1. The Bulldogs claimed the result on court #5 to cut their deficit to 3-1.
 
The Buccaneers then won on courts #2 and #3 simultaneously to clinch the win, giving them their fourth and fifth points of the afternoon. Skegro won 7-6, 7-6 while Boyd took hers 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. The result at #6 went unfinished with Di Staulo leading 5-4 in the third set.
 
Charleston Southern has just their regular season finale now remaining. They will face Presbyterian on Wednesday, April 9 at the Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center with first serve scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and the match to also serve as the team's senior day. With a victory in the match, the Buccaneers will win the Conference's Regular Season outright with a perfect 5-0 record. This year's Big South Conference Championship will be held in Lexington, S.C. from Friday, April 18 through Saturday, April 19 with the Buccaneers having clinched the top seed for the event.
