Big South Announces Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - April 9

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions this past weekend of April 3-6.
 
High Point’s 4x100m Relay Team of Myles Darroch, Marquis Belle, Dominiq Northington and Keshon Sapp was voted Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, Gardner-Webb’s Quentin Peterson (McDonough, Ga.) was tabbed the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honoree, while HPU’s Jason Olivera Jr. (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) was selected the Men’s Freshman of the Week.
 
Darroch, Belle, Northington and Sapp also broke the school’s 4x100m relay record with a sub-40 effort of 39.89 to win the event.  The time ranks 10th all-time in conference annals.
 
Peterson placed second in the shot put (18.46m), discus (58.61m) and hammer (56.82m) at the VertKlasse Meeting.  All three efforts rank first in the Big South this season, and he now ranks third in league history in the discus, and is tied for third-place all-time in the conference record book in the shot put.
 
Olivera cleared a personal-best 5.00m in the pole vault elite at the VertKlasse Meeting, the third-best effort in the Big South this spring.
