Big South Announces Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - April 9
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions this past weekend of April 3-6.
High Point’s 4x100m Relay Team of
Asharia Pearson,
Dae’Nitra Hester,
Gianna Paul and
Quiana Williams was selected the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while HPU’s
Sydney Horn (Lancaster, Pa.) earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors. Williams (Greensboro, N.C.) is the Women’s Freshman of the Week.
Pearson, Hester, Paul and Williams won the 4x100m relay at the VertKlasse Meeting with a program- and meet-record time of 45.21 seconds, which ranks seventh all-time in Big South history.
Horn cleared a season-best of 4.32m in the pole vault at the VertKlasse Meeting for a second-place finish.
Williams anchored HPU’s record-breaking 4x100m relay squad, and also won the 200m dash in 23.84. In addition, Williams took third in the 100m dash (11.56) and was part of the 4x400m Relay that finished in a time of 3:48.52.
