CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Radford designated hitter Breckin Nace (Forest, Va.) has been named the Big South Baseball Player of the Week, while USC Upstate’s Chris Torres (West Springfield, Mass.) is the Starting Pitcher of the Week for games played May 5-11, it was announced today. In addition, Charleston Southern’s Ryan DuSang (Commerce Township, Mich.) was selected as the Relief Pitcher of the Week, while USC Upstate’s Henry Zenor (St. Louis, Mo.) is the Freshman of the Week honoree.

Nace led Radford at the plate during a weekend sweep of Winthrop, going 6-for-13 (.462) with three home runs, a double, seven RBI, six runs scored, and a stolen base. He recorded multiple hits in every game, totaled 16 bases, and posted a .500 on-base percentage with one walk and a 1.231 slugging percentage. Nace homered twice in Friday’s series opener—both solo shots—added a double in game two, and capped the weekend with a two-run homer in the ninth inning of the finale to spark a five-run frame and walk-off win. He also contributed on the mound, tossing 5.0 innings, allowing four hits, and striking out four.

Torres earned his team-leading seventh win of the season with 6.0 innings of work in game three against Presbyterian, allowing just one earned run. He struck out four and limited the Blue Hose to a .143 batting average, giving up only three hits and five total baserunners. The right-hander opened his outing with three strikeouts in the first inning and recorded his fourth in the sixth. It marked his team-best eighth quality start of the year.

DuSang extended his dominant streak to six consecutive outings without allowing an earned run, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings across two appearances against UNC Asheville. He allowed just one hit, issued no walks or hit batters, and struck out five. In game one, he retired all six batters faced over 2.0 innings and needed only four pitches to get through his first frame, earning the win. He followed with a 3.0-inning effort in his second appearance, fanning five.

Zenor slashed .421/.455/.579 on the week, recording eight hits, a team-high six RBI, and a team-best three doubles while reaching base 10 times for the Spartans. He opened the week by going 3-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored, a double, and a walk against Georgia State. He added another double in the series opener against Presbyterian, followed by a two-hit, two-RBI effort in game two.
