Big South Announces Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - May 9
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during April 28-May 6.
High Point received all three weekly awards, with
Graham Ferguson (Franklin, Tenn.) named the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week,
Justin Sluijter (Arkel, Netherlands) the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, and
Tim Brown (Davidson, N.C.) the Men’s Freshman of the Week.
Ferguson ran the third-fastest 1,500m in conference history at the Duke Twilight, as he crossed the finish line in a program-record time of 3:41.35.
Sluijter won the long jump for the second-straight week with a leap of 7.53m at the Duke Twilight. He also recorded a distance of 57.96m in the javelin for eighth-place.
Brown re-set his own High Point record in the 400m dash at the Duke Twilight, as he won the event in 46.50 for his second 400m gold medal this spring. He also maintained his top spot in the Big South this season.
