High Point Selected 2025 Women's Cross Country Preseason Favorite
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Eight-time defending Big South women’s cross country champion
High Point University has been unanimously voted the favorite in the conference’s annual preseason poll by the league’s head coaches, the conference office announced Wednesday.
The Panthers received all nine first-place votes and 81 points to claim the top preseason spot for the eighth consecutive season.
Charleston Southern, last year’s Runner-Up, was second in the poll with 67 points -- just ahead of third-place
Radford (66 points).
UNC Asheville finished fourth in the voting with 52 points, ahead of
Longwood, which placed fifth in the poll with 47 points.
USC Upstate landed in the sixth position with 36 points, followed by
Gardner-Webb (seventh-place, 24 points),
Winthrop (eighth-place, 20 points) and
Presbyterian College (ninth-place, 12 points) to round out the preseason rankings.
The women’s cross country season begins Friday, Aug. 29. The 2025 Big South Women’s Cross Country Championship is slated for Friday, Oct. 31, in Farmville, Va., and will be hosted by Longwood University.
