Big South Announces Women's Golfers of the Week - Sept. 19

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Radford’s Mckenzie Weddle (Floyd, Va.) has been named the Big South Women’s Golfer of the Week, while Longwood’s Avery Nordman (Ottawa, Ontario) is the Women’s Freshman of the Week honoree for events played Sept. 11-17, it was announced today.
 
Weddle won medalist honors at the Elon Invitational (par 71, 6,025 yards) with a 3-under 210 (68-70-72) -- her first collegiate victory.  She won the 78-player event, which featured 36 Big South competitors, by one strok.  Weddle finished with 11 birdies -- including six in the first round, and was 2-under on the par-5 holes as well as 1-under on the par-3 layouts.
 
In her second collegiate start, Nordman posted her first career Top 10 finish as she tied for ninth at the Elon Invitational with a 2-over par 215 (72-68-75).  She was Longwood’s top finisher, and tied for the second-lowest overall scoring average on the par-4 holes (even).  Nordman had the second-most pars in the field with 40, and made seven birdies overall -- including four in a seven-hole stretch during her second round 68.
