Big South Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week - Sept. 29

Riley O’Bryan (Louisville, Ky.) has been named the Big South Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Gardner-Webb goalkeeper
Savannah Dixon (Raleigh, N.C.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 22-28, it was announced today. In addition, Charleston Southern midfielder
Rowyn Serne (Ottawa, Ontario) and Radford defender
Ryane Devlin (Fairfax, Va.) have been selected as the Co-Freshmen of the Week.
O’Bryan scored both goals in USC Upstate’s 2-0 win over High Point, recording the first brace of her collegiate career. The sophomore opened the scoring in the 30th minute and added her second in the 37th to give the Spartans a two-goal advantage. She finished with four shots, including three on target, in 82 minutes of action.
Dixon recorded seven saves and her first clean sheet of the season in Gardner-Webb’s 1-0 win over Presbyterian. The senior faced 16 shots, making two saves in the first half and five in the second, including four in the final 20 minutes that allowed the Runnin’ Bulldogs to win it with a late goal. Dixon played the full 90 minutes in goal.
Serne assisted on the game-winning goal in Charleston Southern’s 1-0 victory over Winthrop. The freshman set up Janéa Knight in the 56th minute for the match’s lone score, helping the Buccaneers open conference play with back-to-back wins. She added one shot on goal in 65 minutes of action.
Devlin assisted on the game-winning goal in Radford’s 1-0 win over Longwood. The Fairfax, Virginia, native connected with Lilly Short in the 35th minute for the match’s only score, while also helping defensively to limit the Lancers to four shots on goal as the Highlanders moved to 2-0 in conference play.
